What is n8n, and why does automation run on it?

n8n is a workflow automation tool that connects different apps and APIs (WhatsApp, email, a CRM, Google Sheets, OpenAI) so an action in one triggers a response in another, without a person doing it by hand. A new lead fills a form; n8n tags it, routes it to the right person, and starts a follow-up sequence, all in the background.
n8n vs. Zapier or Make
The core difference is control. n8n is open-source and can be self-hosted, so workflow logic and data don't have to sit on a third party's servers, and there's no per-task pricing ceiling forcing a rebuild once volume grows. It's also built for more complex, conditional logic than most drag-and-drop tools handle cleanly.

No. n8n workflows are built visually, node by node. Custom logic (conditions, data transforms, edge cases specific to your business) is where a bit of code helps, which is where we come in.
